Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Thomas Amazeen was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 27, 1930. He was one of three children born from the union of the late Charles and Ellen (Turnquist) Amazeen. John came to Monroe in the 1960's. He married the former Shirley Thomas and from this union would come the birth of six children. After Shirley' passing John married Joyce McGreevy. John supported his family as a Local member of United Auto Workers 723 working as a Steel Expediter for Ford Motor Company. John was a very hard worker, but he remained a devoted husband and father always finding time to spend with his family. He served for thirty-one years before retiring in 1981. John was active in the community serving as a Boy Scout leader for troop 397, and coached summer baseball in the Jefferson area. To say the least, John, was very unique. He had a sharp mind and a dry sense of humor. John loved to travel and Florida and Pennsylvania were both favorite places to visit. He was a hockey enthusiast playing semi-pro into his twenties, and his love of the sport kept him playing pick-up games well into his fifties. He was an avid Red Wings fan. John also enjoyed baseball and his beloved Tigers. His Legacy will live on through his family.
