Freda Louise Beach was born in St. Louis, Michigan on September 26, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Fred Beach and the late Olive (Andrew) Beach. Freda attended Sumner Elementary School and graduated with the Class of 1935 from Perrington High School. She would further her education by attending business school for two years.
She married John M. Jackson on May 13, 1939 in Big Rapids. Freda and John would be blessed with the birth of two children, and Freda cared for their needs as a homemaker. She would attend Midwestern Baptist College with her husband. Freda typed his notes and helped him study by quizzing as he drove to and from school.
She was instrumental in the beginning of Calvary Baptist Church supporting her husband in his ministry from 1964-1989. Freda taught several generations of children through the Junior Church for more than sixty years retiring one week before her 100th birthday. She was quite intelligent and loved to converse, often very colorfully with her play on words and friendly banter.
Freda had an amazing presence with the congregation. Her loving ways commanded respect amongst the children, and they often stopped at her front row pew to happily provide a hug. She impressed in the children the importance of knowing Christ.
