Mary Matt

Obituary of Mary Ruth Matt

Mary Ruth Wyatt was born on July 18, 1931 in Crossville, Tennessee. She was one of two children born from the union of the late Alec and Minnie (Chastain) Wyatt. Mary received her High School Diploma and began working in food management before retiring in 1998.

Mary met the love of her life John E. Matt and married on December 3, 1960. Together they raised two sons. Living in their Whitmore Lake home, they shared fifty-five blissful years before John’s unexpected passing in January of 2015.

Mary’s other passion was her family and friends, spending as much time with them as possible. She would always make them a priority. Whether it be a Simple BBQ or a trip to the mall as a family day out with her grandchildren. One of Mary’s fondest memories was her eldest grandson serenading her with an Elvis song and all her grandchildren putting on a concert for her and their Papa. Mary seemed to leave a mark on the hearts and smile on the faces of those she encountered. Her kind words and great sense of humor will be deeply missed.
