Obituary of Kim Carl Sachs Sr

Kim Carl Sachs was born March 5, 1956 in Monroe. He was born from the union of Frederick John and Donna Jean (Gross)Sachs. Kim attended Monroe High School graduating with the Class of 1974.

Kim was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe.  He was active in his community through various organizations. Kim was a past President of the Monroe County Board of Realtors in 2007 and 2009, he was active with the Relay for Life of Monroe and the Kiwanis Club.

For many years, his voice could be heard at the Monroe High School Trojans Halftime Shows, announcing the Marching Band from 1991 to 1999. He later went into business for himself in 2007 where he co-owned and was the President of Premier Care Assisted Living in Bay City.

Time spent with family meant the most to Kim, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed taking trips with them, visiting Florida and Minnesota, going to Disney, ocean cruises, and to the Wisconsin Dells. He rarely missed any milestones in his grandchildren’s lives. Kim enjoyed camping since he was a young man, in the recent years he built his own private campground for family members to visit.  Kim had a love of animals, he took in wildlife, livestock and variable types of birds over the years.  

Kim Carl Sachs Sr., age 61 of Freeland passed away at 1:52am on Monday, June 19, 2017 at home. In addition to his grandparents: Lawrence and Adeline Gross; and Henry and Norma Sachs, he was preceded by his brother: Thomas Sachs.

To cherish his memory, Kim leaves his children: Lisa Sachs of Wayland, Kim(Alison) Sachs Jr of Woodbury, Minnesota and Tina(Robert) Bovenkerk of Milan; his parents: Frederick and Donna Sachs of Monroe; brother: Larry (Deb) Sachs of Monroe; sister in-law: Dee Sachs; and his grandchildren: Brady, Parker, Kara, Aubrey and Henry.

Friends may gather on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service; 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. He will Lie-in-State on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 9:00am until a Funeral Service at 10:00am at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe with Pastor Mark Witte officiating. Procession will follow to Northside Cemetery in Maybee.
