Robert Malek

Obituary of Robert James Malek

Robert James Malek was born on April 17, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan.   He was one of five children born from the union of the late Joseph L. Malek and the late Mary R. (Johnson) Malek Worden.  Robert grew up in the Downriver area attending Kennedy High School in Taylor.

In 1988, Robert met his future wife and the love of his life, Jessica Butt.   The couple shared a long courtship before being joined together in marriage on May 18, 1994 in Monroe.   For many years, Robert worked as an Exterminator for Terminex Pest Control to provide for his family.

Robert was unique and one of a kind.   He was a faithful and loyal husband to his wife, a dear brother to his four siblings, and reliable to a host of friends.   When he considered someone a friend it was a lifetime investment, and he was generous with his resources at any personal cost.

He liked to be in front of the grill cooking for guests, and looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas to enjoy two of his favorite things food and fellowship.   In his free time, Robert loved to play video games and he was always up for catching some fish along the banks of the Huron River in Flat Rock or in Northern Michigan.

Robert James Malek, age 59, of Newport passed away at home at 12:44am on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.   He had been under the care of ProMedica Hospice of Monroe.   His passing was preceded by his parents.
