Obituary of Barbara Ann Fournier

Barbara Ann Fournier was born on October 23, 1950 in Orlando, Florida. She was one of nine children born from the union of the late Elias Simmons and the late Stella (Johnson) Simmons. Barbara was a 1968 graduate of Deland Senior High School in Orlando and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business Management at Mid Florida Tech in 1995.

Barbara met her husband at Walt Disney Company where she was employed for several years in multiple positions including, dressing as Minnie Mouse.  She then found employment as manager the Hyatt Regency-Grand Cypress where she retired after twenty-five years.  

In 2016 Barbara moved to Monroe to be closer to her brother and received her spiritual nourishment at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.

Barbara was vibrant and kind to all who had the pleasure to know her.  She enjoyed playing computer games and was an avid NASCAR racing fan.  

Barbara’s family meant the world to her. She loved spending time with her great-great nephews often taking them to McDonald’s and Taco Bell.

Barbara Ann Fournier, age 66, of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. In addition to her parents, her passing is preceded by her beloved husband of thirty-two years: Donald Fournier in 2002; her daughter: Sharon Gwen Fournier in 2012; five brothers: Harold Simmons, Fred Simmons, Lois Simmons, Milford Simmons and Mitchell Simmons.

To cherish her memory, Barbara leaves her beloved son: Donald Fournier of Florida; three sisters: Jean Cooley of Alabama, Hilda Fay Vaught of Florida and Louise Smith of Florida; her nieces: Rose Ann Croley, Gerri Kitts, Peggy Simmons and Shirley Donlon of Monroe; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
