Susan Ellison

Obituary of Susan Marie Ellison

Susan Marie Barton was born in Monroe on April 20, 1947.   She was the oldest of seven children born to Kenneth and Eleanor (Rowe) Barton Sr.   Susan attended Jefferson High School.

She was married by the Justice of the Peace, to David Lee Ellison Sr., on August 8, 1964.   The couple renewed their vows at Good Shephard Lutheran Church on August 8, 1989.   From this union would come the birth of four children.

Susan was a strong and passionate mother and grandmother.   She was the rock of her family holding them together like glue.  She was generous, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own and extremely forgiving.   Susan valued honesty over all else.

She loved bringing her family together, and it was quite easy being a fabulous cook.   Susan had many specialties:  fried Bread, sweet spaghetti, pot pie, and fried chicken, to name a few.   Whenever she felt stressed she would turn to baking; making amazing peanut butter fudge and no bake cookies.   For many years, she was an avid bowler at Nortel Lanes.   Susan loved to play the nickel and quarter slots often traveling with David to the MGM and Motor City Casinos.   They looked forward to annual trips to Las Vegas.

Susan, age 70, of Monroe passed away at home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.   Her passing was preceded by her parents, brother:  Steven Barton; sister: Donna Mosher; and great granddaughter:  Amelia.

To cherish her memory, Susan leaves her beloved husband:  David Lee Ellison Sr.; four children:  Dawn (Carl) Musko of Monroe, David (Michelle) Ellison Jr. of Fenton, Shane (Rachael) Ellison of Niagra, Wisconsin, and Shelly (Chip) Jones of Monroe; one brother: Kenneth (Amy) Barton Jr. of Monroe, three sisters:  Cathy (Dennis) Baehr of Newport, Marlene (John) Lykins of Lewiston, and Laurie Bell of Monroe; eight grandchildren: Justine, Randall, David John, Katelyn, Matthew, Trevor, Jessica, and Devin; and four great grandchildren:  Efren, Charlotte, Liam, and Ashtyn.
