Obituary of Stuart P Weckerly

Stuart P. Weckerly was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 10, 1926.   He was one of two sons born from the union of Mark A. Weckerly and Edna S. (Smith) Weckerly.   He attended Devilbis High School in Toledo and graduated with the Class of 1944.   Following graduation, Stuart, enlisted in the United States Army serving his country honorably at the end of World War II as Private First Class in the Infantry.  While enlisted he received a Good Conduct Medal and One Battle Star for serving in the European Theatre.   After his discharge in 1946 he returned to Northwest Ohio enrolling in the University of Toledo.   He obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering from Purdue University in 1950.  

Stuart began working for the Ford Motor Company in 1952.   He was employed in the capacity of Motor Engineering Supervisor for many years before retiring in 1982.  

Stuart was an avid outdoorsman.   He was an excellent hunter and a fabulous fisherman once catching a record-setting 125lb flounder.   He also enjoyed model airplanes and participated with the Detroit Cloudbuster Model Airplane Club.

Stuart P. Weckerly, age 90 of Dearborn passed away at 3:20am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn.   Stuart’s passing was preceded by his parents and his beloved brother:  Kenneth R. Weckerly.  

A memorial in Celebration of Stuart’s Life will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00am at Henry Ford Village; 15101 Ford Rd Dearborn, Michigan 48126. Burial is being planned for the near future at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560.   Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
