Obituary of Brenda "Mimi" Sue Ontiveros

Brenda Sue Hawkins was born in Wabash, Indiana on March 29, 1950. She was one of four daughters from the union of Virgil Hawkins and Dorothy (Dunn) Hawkins.

Brenda attended Beauty School in Wayne County to achieve her license in cosmetology. For many years, she was the owner and operator of her own salon in Detroit. While she was in her 40’s, Brenda proudly returned to school to earn her diploma. In the mid 1990’s, Brenda took a medical retirement.

Brenda was an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed watching her favorite police and court shows on television including: Law and Order, Criminal Minds, and Judge Judy, to name a few. More than anything she cherished the time she had with children and grandchildren.

Brenda Sue Herwig Ontiveros (Mimi), age 67, of Newport Michigan, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Her passing was preceded by both of her parents; Robert Herwig; two sisters:  Cynthia Spraker and Virginia Trevino; her beloved grandson Tyler Arnold; and her giant schnauzer:  Stormy.

To cherish her memory she leaves a daughter:  Deonna Herwig (James Taylor) of Taylor, Michigan; a son: Joey Herwig (Theresa Linsea) of Newport, Michigan; a sister:  Sharon Hawkins; three grandchildren:  Joey Herwig, Devin Herwig, and Christian Herwig-Tucker.
