Dwight Kelley

Obituary of Dwight Henry Kelley

Dwight Henry Kelley was born on May 18, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan. He is one of four children born from the union of the late Charles Lewis and the late Gladys(Johnson) Kelley. Shortly after graduating from high school, Dwight enlisted into the United States Navy where he served his country honorably for four years during the Vietnam Era. He later furthered his education by going to school to serve as a minister. In 1969, he married Barbara Haykus and continued their marriage for 28 years. Dwight supported his family for over thirty years with employment through Roush Steel in Dearborn, taking retirement in June of 2000 as a recorder. Dwight received his spiritual nourishment from Redeemer Fellowship Church in Monroe where he has given a few messages. Dwight was a follower of Christ, which lead him to be very involved with his church. He lived a charitable lifestyle, giving of himself and what he had to others without being asked. Dwight was a friend to everyone. Even if he had just met you, you would think he knew you forever. He loved to tell stories, which were long and quite interesting. Dwight was often entertained by a good meal at a local restaurant, followed by a night at the movies. He loved to share in a good meal with the company of his church family by taking others out to eat. He adored his family and grandchildren and always ended a conversation with “God Bless you, I love you….”. Dwight Kelley, age 72 of Monroe passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two nieces: Paulette Lee and Kelly Lee.
