Obituary of Harold Lorne Goethe

Harold Lorne Goethe was born in Ida, Michigan on January 17, 1940. He was one of ten children born from the union of the late Harmon Goethe and the late Lillian (Jarvis) Goethe. Harold graduated in 1958 from Catholic Central High School. He excelled in all sports. Harold was regarded as one of the finest athletes of his or any generation. He was honored in 2008 and was inducted to the Athletic Hall of Fame for Monroe Catholic Central. Harold married Judy Procter. From this union came the birth of two sons: Allen and Stephen Goethe. He met the love of his life Eleanor (Leach) Goethe. Retiring in 1980, they moved to Mio, Michigan where they proceeded to have a small farm. Harold had an abundant love for animals and people alike. He was under the care of hospice at Wellspring Lutheran Services for the last few years. Harold Lorne Goethe, age 77 of Mio passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Fairview. In addition to his parents, his passing is preceded by three brothers: Harmon Goethe Jr., Donald Goethe and Clarence Goethe; three sisters: Margie Goethe, Betty Goethe and Millie Goethe. He is survived by his wife: Eleanor (Leach) Goethe; Gerald Maynard; Edna Goethe; two sons: Allen Goethe and Stephen Goethe; three step children: Dianna Leach, David Leach and Denise Spindleman; his grandchildren: Christopher, Alexander, Ian, Ethan, Tyler, Nathan, Madison, Kaleigh and Kristina. A memorial will be held at a later date.
