Obituary of Gregory Mark Beaubien

Gregory Mark Beaubien was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 9, 1949. He was the son of Tom Beaubien and Elizabeth “Betty” (Kennedy) Beaubien. Greg was educated at St. Michael Grade School through the eighth grade. He then attended Monroe High School graduating with the Class of 1967. Gregory would meet the love of his life: Allen Edson Meyers in a small bar. They became an inseparable pair together attending L’Oréal Salon International Coloring Beauty School in New York, New York graduating in June of 1971. For many years, the couple owned and operated Gregory and Allen’s Unisex Salon in Monroe, although Allen retired due to vascular narcosis at the age of 39, Greg continued the operation for many years until retiring several years ago. The couple loved to travel and often spoke fondly of their Hawaiian vacation, saving five years, to live it up big. They also enjoyed spending time boating and fishing. Greg had an eye for fine art often finding unique paintings and Tiffany lamps filling his home with quite the collection throughout the years. Gregory Mark Beaubien, age 67, of Monroe passed away at 2:32pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home under the care of Promedica Monroe Hospice. His passing was preceded by his partner of more than forty-five years: Allen Edson Meyers on September 24, 2016; both of his parents: Tom and Elizabeth Beaubien; two brothers: Dr. John Paul Beaubien and Thomas Beaubien; Allen’s mother: Jane; and Allen’s brother: Charles “Skip” Meyers. To cherish his memory, Gregory leaves one brother: Ronnie (Donna) Beaubien; a sister-in-law: Jane Beaubien; Allen’s parents; father: Edson “Ed” Meyers and step mother: Lucy; Allen’s brothers: Bob (Anna) Meyers and George (Kathy) Meyers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may gather on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00pm with Father Louis Lapeyre, Associate Pastor of St. Mary Parish officiating.
