Obituary of Mary "Judy" Judith Wamsley

Mary Judith Copley was born on January 5, 1943 in Flatwoods, Kentucky. She was the youngest of eight children born to the union of Pearl Spurgeon Copley and Annabelle Elizabeth (O’Brien) Copley. Judy attended Fairview High School and graduated with the class of 1961. She married the love of her life, William Lindsay Wamsley in Ashland Kentucky on November 18, 1972. The couple would soon make their home in Monroe, and from this union came the birth of two wonderful children. The children often marveled at Judy’s remarkable poise and strength. In addition to caring for the needs of her husband and children she worked outside the home. For many years, she assisted her husband with his pastoral duties at their church, Riverside United Brethren in Monroe. Judy was very active at Monroe Public Schools serving in multiple capacities, and had also worked in local businesses providing assistance with managerial responsibilities. Judy was loving, generous, and kind. She was compassionate with others and adopted all her children’s friends, constantly championing the underdog. She enjoyed challenging her mind with sodoku and crossword puzzles. When she had some down time she could be found watching her favorite hoops team, The Detroit Pistons or watching NCIS. She was sure to be loving on one of her many four legged companions.
