Obituary of Mittie Laura Allison

Mittie “Laura” Allison was born February 10, 1931 in Brevard, North Carolina. She was one of five children born from the union of the late Charles Allard Allison and the late Irene (Cooper) Allison. Laura was a 1949 graduate of Dearborn High School. For thirty years Laura supported her family employed by the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1993. A highly intelligent woman, she had an amazing talent for remodeling and refurbishing homes. Throughout her life, she completed three such projects as well as lending her home improvement skills to her friends and family. Laura was quite the jokester and great sense of humor, but was known for her ability to say it the way was. She was very energetic and always on the go. For many years, she enjoyed playing tennis, golf, snowmobiling, riding her motorcycle and landscaping. Camping, going to the drive-in and spending time at “the cabin” were special moments she shared with her children. Among her other talents, Laura was quite the seamstress and enjoyed drawing and painting. In her quiet time, Laura could be found watching her favorite movies and television shows, Lonesome Dove, Dancing with Wolves or Dr. Quinn.
