Obituary of Eliza Luverne Hyden

Eliza Luverne Parrott was born in La Follette, Tennessee on June 10, 1920. She was one of eight children born from the union of Thomas and Tina Parrott. As a young woman, Eliza relocated to the Monroe area Where she would marry the love of her life, the late Robert L. Hyden, at the Monroe County Courthouse on January 25, 1946. From this union, the couple raised six wonderful children. Family was above all else most important. Eliza was a great cook and hostess, and she enjoyed feeding and tending to her children and grandchildren, hosting numerous family dinners and holiday events through the years. In her spare time she enjoyed canning her own food. Eliza was an active member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She loved to share the Gospel teaching Sunday School and Bible Class, participating in several church plays, and singing in the choir. Eliza L. Hyden, age 96 of Monroe, passed away at 12:20pm at the Alice Lorraine Care Center on Saturday, September 17, 2016 with her beloved family at her side. In addition to her parents, Eliza was preceeded in death by her husband of sixty seven years Robert and seven siblings. To cherish her memory, Eliza leaves six children: Clinton (Katherine) Parrott of Oxford, Robert “Keith” (Loreleen) Hyden of Lincoln Park, Betty (Earl A.) Underwood II of Monroe, Rick (Pam) Hyden of Monroe, Tim (Cindy) Hyden of Monroe, and Kim (Jeff) Hutchison of Monroe; sixteen grandchildren: David, John, and Tony(Sherri) Parrott, Robert Hyden, Shelly (Larry) Roman, Earl A. Underwood III, Ashley (Robert) Brady, Kayla (Cody) Roggero, Tyler, Heather, Luke and Sarah Hyden, Joshua, Ryan, Brandon and Emily Hutchison; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Friends may gather on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00 am at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14260 South Dixie Highway with Reverend Roy Southerland pastor of the church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn for burial.
