Obituary of JoAnn Patterson

Jo Ann Pate was born on April 17, 1940 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. One of four children, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Edgar Pate and Myrtle (Sharp) Pate. When she was eleven her family moved to Monroe. She married Warren Patterson on November 11, 1971 at the Monroe County Courthouse. For many years she was employed by Bargain City assisting in the office. She also worked for Fine Arts Photography helping with photography work retiring in 1988. More than anything, Jo Ann loved to spend time with family. She enjoyed all types of activities, but shopping was a favorite pastime. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jo Ann was a fantastic party host and cook probably learning some of her secrets from television cooking shows. Her specialties included: Biscuits and Gravy, soup beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread. In her free time she challenged her mind with word searches puzzles, and her emotions with her daily dose of soap, General Hospital being her favorite. Jo Ann Patterson, age 76, of Monroe passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Medilodge of Monroe. In addition to her parents and husband her passing was preceded by a sister: Ersula “Sue” Pate and a brother-in-law: William “Bill” Croley. To cherish her memory, Jo Ann leaves three beloved children: Carol (George) Kazimer, William “Bill” (Jenny) Patterson, and Richard “RT” Turner all of Monroe; a sister: Shelcie Croley of Monroe, her brother: William “Ben” Pate of Monroe; twelve grandchildren: Teffanie (Ray) Kazimer, Ryan (Jessica) Kazimer, Samantha (Richard) Wilson, Tanayea (Josh) Jones, Melissa (Sean) Ross, Regan Pfeiffer, MaKayden Patterson, William Patterson, Stephanie Turner, Justin Griffor, Tristine and Tasha Dempsey; seventeen great grandchildren: Darian Kazimer, Schuylar Johnson, Nathan Kazimer, Kaylee Kazimer, Addison Kazimer, Rayvian Deitz, Noah Wilson, Rylee Kazimer, Sawyer Jones, Corbin Jones, Aliya Reed, Maizee Kazimer, Austin Deitz, Autumn Deitz, Ally Deitz, Ashton Deitz, and Jasmine Kitts; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may gather on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 2:00pm until a Celebration of Her Life at 7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 with Reverend Delmar Moore pastor of Grace Missionary Baptist Church to officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family to assist with funeral arrangements.
