Obituary of Jane Kathryn Bollenberg

Jane Kathryn Burnard was born on September 11, 1963 in Monroe, Michigan. She was born from the union of the late Frederick G. Burnard and Madeline (Verhaeghe) Burnard. Jane attended Monroe High School and later in life went back to school to earn her Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from Monroe County Community College. Jane married the love of her life, the late Jeffrey Lynn Bollenberg on May 2, 1986. From this union would come the birth of a daughter, Madeline. Jane enjoyed looking after her family and she felt blessed to have the husband and life that she had. She was very thoughtful and loving. Jane was a hard-worker and she enjoyed every position she held. She took employment in 1987 with Airport Community Schools. Jane worked for the transportation department as a bus driver until 2002. For many years, Jane honed her skills in the kitchen working for Joe’s French Italian Inn in Monroe, and Ricardo’s and Ponchatrain’s in Detroit. She had also worked as a bookkeeper for Roark’s Tavern for many years. Most important to Jane was the time she spent with her family and her grandson: Bentley whom was the light of her life. Jane enjoyed entertaining and she always felt lucky to welcome guests into her home. She enjoyed family cook-outs and get-togethers. Jane was known for wonderful laugh and her great sense of humor. Jane Kathryn Bollenberg, age 52, passed away on August 23, 2016 at her home at 11:42pm with her loving family by her side. Her passing was preceded by her husband: Jeffrey in 2002; her mother-in-law: Genetha Bollenberg; her father-in-law: Charles Bollenberg; and a sister-in-law: Kathryn S. Bollenberg. To cherish her memory Jane leaves her beloved daughter: Madeline Genetha Bollenberg of Monroe; her mother: Madeline Burnard of Monroe; a grandson: Bentley Prayther; one sister: Christine Curtis of Monroe; two brothers: Daniel (Brenda) Burnard of Ortonville and Charles (Karen) Burnard of Monroe; three brothers-in-law: William G. (Barbara) Bollenberg, Robert B. Bollenberg, Don (Pat) Bollenberg; sisters-in-law: Carol Bollenberg and Theresa Roark; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may gather on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 10:00am on Saturday, August 27, 2016 also at Merkle’s. Deacon Ken Trabbic will officiate and procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
