Obituary of John Furman Carr

John Furman Carr was born in Trenton, Michigan on November 6, 1958. He was one of seven children born from the union of the late James Marshall and the late Margery Elizabeth (Burley) Carr. John graduated with the class of 1976 from Huron High School in New Boston, Michigan. John married the love of his life, the former Susie Dimeff, on June 13, 1997 in Toledo, Ohio. From this union, came a blended family of five children. John supported his family as a laborer in production of steel at US Steel, taking medical retirement in 2013. He received his spiritual nourishment through LaSalle Missionary Baptist Church. John was a genuine family man; a devoted husband, loving father and amazing grandfather. He was a proud Harley owner, avid motorcyclist, enjoying many long rides with his wife. John loved working in his yard; tending to his flower gardens, especially his beautiful rose bushes. He could spend many hours out with his boys shooting trap and various targets. At the age of 57, the Lord called John Carr home at 9:00am on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, he had been under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister: Lynda Kolvek. To cherish his memory, John leaves his wife of nineteen years: Susie (Dimeff) Carr of Monroe; five children: William Hayter Jr. of Newport, Michael (Connie) Hayter of Monroe, Bridgette (Shawn) Prajzner of Monroe, Aaron (Courtney) Page of Monroe and Matthew Page of Monroe; brother: James (Sandy) Carr of Ecorse; sisters: Julia Ray of Taylor, Sheila (Paul) Case of Texas, Marsha Riley of Flat Rock, and Cheryl (Tom) Lubig of Belleville; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, August 26, 2016 at LaSalle Missionary Baptist Church, 12845 C Street, LaSalle, MI with Pastor Joseph Baird officiating.
