Obituary of Linda Marie Lewis

Linda Marie Seger was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 28, 1941. She was one of two daughters born from the union of the late George and the late Juanita (Heller) Seger. Linda attended St. Joseph Monroe High School. She worked for Howard Ternis as a Hi-Lo driver where she took retirement on 1999. Linda married the love of her life, Marvin Lewis, on June 23, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, Michigan. From this union came the birth of two children. Linda was a devoted wife and a great help to her husband and family. They made a good team and were inseparable. She attended and received her spiritual nourishment through St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Linda was a fun and happy person. She shared her infectious smile traveling across the county from Florida, Las Vegas to Texas. She especially enjoyed Corpus Christi. Linda was very outgoing and loved being outdoors. She spent a lot of time camping with family and just adored her children and grandchildren. Linda was an amazing cook and even better baker. She spent over 20 years cooking for a local restaurant and also worked as a car hop. Linda was a great gardener and loved canning the vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed her quiet time but really enjoyed her county music and going to concerts. Word searches and video poker machines were among some of her favorite things to do. Linda, age 74, passed away at Alice Lorraine Care Center in Monroe on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Janet Fillmore. To cherish her memory, Linda leaves her beloved husband: Marvin Lewis; a son: Michael (Tammy) Lewis of Carleton; a daughter: Kim (Jeff) Davis of LaSalle; four grandchildren: Jeffery Davis Jr. of Monroe, Megan Davis of LaSalle, Michael Lewis Jr. of Monroe and Heather Reid of Flat Rock; and two great grandchildren: Austin Davis and Jax Davis. Friends may gather on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2016 at 11:00am also at Merkle’s with Chaplain William Fink to officiate. A procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for entombment.
