Theodore "Ted" Harold Hochradel January 24, 1960-October 6, 2007 Ted Hochradel, age 47, of Monroe died unexpectedly Saturday, October 6, 2007 at his home. Friends may gather at the Merkle Funeral Home, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from 5-8pm, and on Wednesday, October 10 from 12-8pm. Friends may also gather from 10:00am until funeral services at 11:00am, Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ross Ulrich pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services, Livonia. He was born January 24, 1960 in Monroe, Michigan the son of Harold and Virginia (Heichter) Hochradel. He married Shelly Wurster on November 8, 1979 in Monroe, Michigan at Zion Lutheran Church. Ted began working for General Motors on May 1, 1979. He had worked at several plants including: Romulus, Ypsilanti, and Willow Run before settling several years ago at the Powertrain Plant in Toledo. He worked in Production and recently became a Team Leader. For many years Ted coached youth soccer and baseball through the Monroe Parks and Recreation and Custer Leagues. A friend to all, Ted was well known for his love of Life. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, duck hunting, and especially ice fishing. He enjoyed chopping and splitting wood, house and yard work and spending time in his garden. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, and Zion Lutheran Church. Ted and his son Greg, his neighbor, were the best of friends and could often be found lounging at Greg's pool. Recently, they played softball in the General Motors League in Romulus a team that Ted also coached. Their latest venture together was 130gallons of homemade bottled wine. He is survived by his wife: Shelly; his son: Greg; his mother: Virginia Grady all of Monroe; three sisters: Bonnie McCall of Monroe, Janice (Greg) Thurner of Janesville, Wisconsin; and Pamela (Steve) Aldridge of Monroe. Sadly he was preceded in death by his father: Harold; a stepfather: Donald Grady, and a beloved mother-in-law: Barb Ann Wurster. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Monroe Parks and Recreation.
