Rodgerick Keith Philson was born on September 20, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of two children born from the union of his parents: the late Eugene Philson and the late Eunice Roland (Whitaker) Philson. He attended school at Samuel C. Mumford High School in Detroit, Michigan and graduated with the class of 1973.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and would go on to play on his work team. His love for sports stayed with him as he always looked forward to watching baseball and football games. His favorite teams included U of M and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rodgerick had two children of his own: a daughter Autumn and a son Rodgerick Jr., whom he loved dearly. He cherished the time spent with his children and nothing made him happier than to watch them grow up and create families of their own blessing him with grandchildren.
Rodgerick loved listening to music including some of his favorite artists: Stevie Wonder and Billy Preston. He was always quiet and had his very own unique sense of humor. He maintained a Southern persona and mentality, though he was a lifelong Michigan resident.
Rodgerick Keith Philson, Sr., age 62, of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. His passing is preceded by his son Rodgerick Philson, Jr. and his parents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his girlfriend and companion of the past ten years: Felicia Trice; his daughter: Autumn Philson; his sister: Reva (Leroy) Daniels; his grandchildren: Ja’Von, Jaxon, Jett and Riley and many extended family members and friends.
